Masterplan 2004
Westminster City Council
DunnettCraven were approached by Westminster City Council to devise masterplan proposals for the remodelling of two buildings in Berwick Street. In addition, we produced an improvement strategy for the wider area, which had become blighted by drug use and prostitution. We wanted to transform this neglected and crime-ridden part of Soho into a vibrant, safe and inviting area.
The plan focused on the improvement of market facilities, in particular outmoded servicing arrangements. The introduction of active facades discouraged the users that had previously afflicted the area. The creation of a new restaurant square linking Poland Street and Wardour Street would add energy and life to the locale.
